London (15 October 2024) β€” This autumn, the Luxury Collection by National Geographic Traveller (UK) showcases some of the world’s most exclusive, far-flung adventures β€” trips that test our physical, psychological and spiritual limits, while maintaining all the hallmarks of a premium experience.Μύ

It’s an accelerating trend with 56% of travellers looking to go off-grid this year and 52% of travellers are willing to book a trip where the destination remains a mystery until the moment they arrive, according to Booking.com’s 2024 travel predictions.  Meanwhile, top tour operators, like Audley Travel and Black Tomato, have reported 25% of their clients now choose remote experiences, seeking to disconnect, push personal boundaries and gain new perspectives.

β€œFinding new frontiers means something different for everyone,” says National Geographic Traveller (UK) Luxury Collection editor, Charlotte Wigram-Evans. β€œFor me, the quest for a path less trodden is a luxury and led to Ladakh, a silencing moonscape of silver rock and dusty plains, high in the Himalayas in northern India. For others, it might mean reimagining classic routes in unpredictable ways or simply relaxing and resetting in a remote, high-end hotel.

β€œIn this issue, we reveal six luxurious trips that really push the envelope, from sharpening survival skills in the Scottish Hebrides and seeking true silence in the Mongolian taiga, to surrendering to culture shock in Pakistan’s otherworldly mountains.”

Elsewhere in this edition, we offer a dive deep into the wild heart of India, exploring private Raj-era palaces, state-of-the-art wellness retreats and sailing in style through the backwaters of Kerala. We also spot polar bears on a discovery cruise in the High Arctic and look at how to make the most of a long weekend in Milan, Italy’s fashion capital.

All this, plus a roundup of the world’s most luxurious resorts, hotels and lodges to aid you in planning your next big trip.
